We developed plenty of websites and we charge intentionally low price for these because we are not aiming just to create an amazing website for brand building or lead generation but we make sure that the website is secure, user-friendly and for that we charge maintenance fee and that is £80 per month.
What is the website maintenance?
Maintenance means: We use drupal or wordpress system and that has a core system and plugins and all of those have ad-hoc updates from developers to improve functionality and fix security issues. We need to be aligned with those and update the website accordingly.
Website development means: If there is an issue with plugin or core system we need to amend coding to make the website work. (Example below)
Why website maintenance is it needed? All websites are under some kind of threat. Hackers try to log in and ad-hoc viruses try to damage websites. If a website is not maintained or updated correctly it gets hacked or a virus could get on the website (we saw some bad examples..). Once the plugin or core website is updated it might crash because of a plugin or problem of the core system. This is why, when there is a new update, we create a back up of all the files and database and after that update the website. If it crashes we need to perform an investigation, back up everything and once the the problem is found make sure it gets fixed.

Examples issues:
A new plugin had to be added, called Classic Editor, because the installed template did not work with the new WordPress core text editor.
Another example is that we installed a Security plugin that tracks all the attacks to the website so we can take action on it. In it’s functionality we hide the login url upon going live with the website.
Next to maintenance we focus on website improvements, recommendations (content, technical etc.) and data reporting.
Via Data Studio we pull the data from Search Console and Google Analytics (and from spreadsheets if needed) and with these the client gets a secured, professional website with data reporting in it.
